 My last lecture

This semester has been a great opportunity to expand my business knowledge through this class, there are a lot of key points that are fundamentals to understand the entrepreneur meaning, because this course helped me to recognize what is the definition of entrepreneurship.

Therefore, I will like to start sharing this tip. The first thing that we have to do, is to begin to walk the business mastery path investing in ourselves, especially in acquiring largest knowledge, when we invest time and money in our formation we will have results in a world that actually is very competent, so the formation of every individual is key.

Another way to begin the big road of business is to determinate what branch of business are you going to follow, because BA has a lot of emphasis so we will need to decide in which one we will feel comfortable, for example I like BA with an emphasis in entrepreneurship.

I believe that the best word to define the beginning of entrepreneurship is to be a Hero because entrepreneurship is a journey full of danger, trials, stumbling blocks, devastating defeat, emotional, psychological, and physical scarring, and death. We are all travelers on this treacherous journey, each striving to find happiness and success.

For that reason we as heroes must have some sense of who we are and what we might become. We won’t know who we are until we takes our first step on this journey. This may be considered the first great dilemma of life. How can the hero begin the journey without knowing exactly which way to go? Many will get stuck on this first stumbling block. If so, their progress towards a successful journey comes to a halt.

The hero takes action; perhaps he embodies the quote by Zig Zigglar:

“Go as far as you can see; when you get there, you’ll be able to see farther” (some sources credit the quote to J.P. Morgan). In the journey of life, the first step forward is often more important than the direction of the first step.

Remember our world desperately needs heroic people—people who shape events, who act rather than watch, who are creative and brave. Such people are needed in every field, in every realm of life—not only law enforcement and disaster response but also science, education, business and finance, health care, the arts, journalism, agriculture, and—not least—in the home.

For that reason let´s be a hero in the business field!

The process of Learning

Through the road of learning we can find different obstacles that shape our filter to see the reality where we live, this is what happen to me.
This course helped me to recognize the meaning of entrepreneurship, a hero way.
Therefore I will like to summarize what I have learned in this course.
What is a entrepreneurship, I will define an entrepreneur as a person who believe in his/her dreams, and work for that the entire life, a person who knows his calling in the world and its prepare to do everything to accomplish it,that is why I am an entrepreneur.
Inside the universe of business as entrepreneurs we need to walk step by step to have a successful career, where our dreams  will be part vital of the life of others.

So in my own words Entrepreneurship is:

I know that my dreams will come true is I work hard and patience, there are going to be times of difficulty but the good things will come. The most important thing about my own entrepreneur journey is the importance of learning, a process that never ends, even with experience, years of formation, etc;the learning is a lineal process, that will be learning day by day.

What is Business for?

• Based on what you read in the first two pages (pages 3 and 4), why are virtue and integrity so vital to an economy?

Business is a game of powers, where the appearance gives us the opportunity to convince the environment that is around us. In the actual capitalism system there is hangover reality that the rich always want to expand the gap between the elite and the society. Therefore, we can see the virtue and integrity as key characteristics in the business world but for the business these terms has many definitions, we can say that is an attitude that create  a balance in the business actions but instead, the elite uses this power to change the rules of the game anytime that they want.

So, I believe that there are people in the elite that work to share the richness of the world with everyone but also I know that there are a lot that just show their skill to hide the truth. Therefore, the advice is to always be virtuous, conscious that the power will always try to reject the pure love of the savior that we can share with our fellows.

Integrity for me means to work with the town to conquer the capitalism system. 

• According to Charles Handy, what is the “real justification” for the existence of businesses?

The creation of business had in the beginning a different view, the people began to create their companies for the passion that they had for something specific also for the benefit of work, the opportunity to aid more people to get a job, etc.

But in this actual time, the companies just think in numbers – money, they don´t share a same vision with their employers , the just want people that act like machines, the importance is to obtain money not to think about the rest of the people, so the filter changed, I believe that although our first goal is to be financial successful we should always remember that one of the biggest callings that we have is to share our richness with our fellows, that´s how we can understand the model of heavens.

• What are two solutions proposed by Handy that you agree with? Why?

I think that the possible solutions can be a part of the changing but is not going to change the entire filter of capitalism, the real problem is that society taught us to obtain a goal and to don´t help others that are pursuing the same goal, it´s like a fight for the death we want the power and we don’t want to share with anyone, so I just imagine one possible solution.

I believe that the key solution is the principle of believing in God, but to understand that everything that we are reaching is by his hand not for us, comprehending that He guide our path, when we know this we also understand that “our richness” are there to share with others, to create a better world, where the balance can be in the rich and poor.

So we must eradicate the pride that we have, to believe that the company exists because our intelligence or our power, the reality is that God gave us these corporations to help others, to create a kingdom of equality.

Money,

What comes to our mind when we talk about money?

Well, we can say that the actual system we´re we live is management by the power of money, but what is money for? And how we can use it?

I had these type of questions long time ago, and we can find different types of answer, we can talk about money as a state of slavery or as resource, etc.

But the real point here is what type of filter are we going to use to define this word?

Well, I will share with you my personal feelings about money. 

The money was created with a specific purpose to help us obtain whatever we want to, we must be worry to understand how we can use the money to achieve our temporal goals, and then we can do everything we want to.

We need to see money as resource to accomplish our dreams in this world, because if we prepare ourselves we can learn how to use and also how to help others when we will have the opportunity to do it. Furthermore, it´s important to see money as a way to work, because if we see it as something that we can´t obtain it´s going to affect the way we live because we are putting limitations to the resource that can give us opportunities to grow. 

I believe that the real meaning of richness is not to just to have everything instead share more with our fellow who needed, that´s how we can help others through the richness. We should be generous with our fellows. 

Therefore let´s change or attitude and let´s use the resource of money to create and help others.

Here the key rules:

1. Seek the Lord and have hope in him Rule 

2. Keep the commandments, that includes the temporal ones, tithing and fast offerings.

3.Think about money and plan how you can become self-reliant. 

4. Take advantage of chances for learning so you will not be ignorant of these matters. Education, as       President Hinckley has taught us, is the Key to Opportunity. 

5. Learn the laws upon which the blessings of wealth are predicated.

6. Do not send away the naked, the hungry, the thirsty or the sick or those who are held captive.

Mentor Interview

Among the path of success we will always need the aid of someone that had a previous background in our professional field. This week I had the wonderful opportunity to learn from a great mentor, Schubert Ganchoso.

I will like to remark some insides that called my attention in the declarations made it by Mr. Ganchoso.

1)      We should always propose the idea that our product is necessary to the rest of the world. The world must say “I need this product, idea, brand, etc”.

2)      We should never lose the capacity of wonder, we should live learning things.

3)      Practice and error. Our capacity to learn is filled of these two characters, which are important to our own growing.

4)      The discipline will determine the type of person that we are and the industry that we are developing.

5)      Creativity is link with discipline.

These five steps gave me another filter to see how I can work in the Art Business since a Ecuadorian filter but can work in every place in the world. 

The most relative thing that we should always put in practice is reach our dreams, all is based in our visions and goals, if we feel insecure of what we can do we will never have the results that we want.

Therefore, even with the advice of mentors, the first step is in ourselves, we are the drivers of our life and the success that we will have in it depends of the previous preparation that we had have.

Get the Job Done

Inside the path of mastery are different lessons that help us determine our vision and goals. One new skill that is key for the success in the business field is the ability to execute.  

What is this?

It’s the skill to not just think what to do or what to plan, but is an attitude to move forward and do everything to achieve any goal, is action even when you don´t know how to do it, finding the passion in every step of the goal.

This capability is actual missing in the world, where we want to first see the results before run the first mile, when we execute true actions we are showing the real faith that we have in ourselves, our true potential.  

“The ability to execute is more valuable that education or talent because is rarer”  

How to put in practice this ability, here are key points:

1)      Accept the mission and start to do it, with or without questions.

2)      Be curios. Remember focus to ask the right questions ten seek answers.

3)       Immediately sketch a plan.

4)      If you need resources, don´t be afraid to ask.

5)      Enlist help when needed.

6)      Report back and show your work.

7)      Under promise and over deliver

8)      Expect to make (small) plans

9)      Put results before schmoozing

10)  Replace the voice in your head with a positive action.

  I know that if we put in practice this new weapon in ourselves, we will gain confidence in our dreams; also we will create a leader model where the impossible is outside the borders of our imagination, so let´s get the job done. 

Connections in Networking

Connections

One of the most important things that we have is the time; we should use our time wisely but if we want to learn from others and in this case, from a mentor, how should we use our time and his time to have an enjoyable learning time.

Well, there are key points that allow us to be prepare for this sacred spaces of knowledge with mentors, instructors, entrepreneurs, etc.  

1)      Realize a previous searching about the topic, industries, markets, that you are going to discuss with the mentor

2)      Be specific about what you need from the other person

3)      Always put yourself in the person´s shoes, ask yourself why would they want to talk to me?

4)      Make it easy, contact your mentor in a way easy for him

5)      Don´t pester, if the mentor is not interested back off. Ask for someone to read about, etc.

6)      Start at the bottom, investigate about the industries you want to know, create a list of companies, try to find people who work there, etc.

7)      Show up prepare

8)      Send a list of questions

9)      Ask questions

10)  Give something unexpected in return

11)  Be nice to the Gatekeepers tool

12)  Follow up. Always be thankful

Use these steps and you will learn learning. 

  

Master Keys

The Five Master Keys

1)      The instruction

Instruction embarks direction and guide, but we should create an interaction in the ways that we instruct others, helping them to find their skills and talents. Not responding the entire question but creating a stage of doubts where the student can find answers for his own experience.

2)      Practice

The mastery journey is fill of practices where in the road are obstacles, even when we commit mistakes we should have an attitude that will guide us to the excellency. The experience is base in practice, and the practice is a daily exercise so works with intent and diligence, not just one day is a process as mastery.

3)      Surrender

Mean to cultivate a mind and heart of a beginner in every stage along the way. For the master, surrender means there are no experts, there are only learners.

4)      Intentionality

It is the attribute that manage our dreams, vision or goals. It is a process of work and effort where the individual finds the connection between his dream and his effort to achieve that vision. Therefore, is the creation of the structure-as-idea that involves a transformation of that structure from one of its form to another, is where the want power acts.

5)      The Edge

Playing the edge is a balancing act that demands the awareness to know when we are pushing ourselves beyond safe limits.  We must to be aware how to wall through the edge of our decisions.

Even with these short definitions we must know that the mastery path is a life process, to achieve a dream we will use this 5 sources again and again, there will be more time for instruction, practice, surrender, etc. The reason is because the mastery is a never ending path. 

Do you want to be a Entrepreneur ?

If you want to be a Entrepreneur be careful to have the enough motivation and patience. It’s not about money, not about fame, it is to meet our goals and be happy in that way.

We must remember that this is not a trip of a few miles, it is a journey that would last a lifetime. 

Serve others will be a key part of our journey to business success and our eternal progression. 

Never take the easy way, surely will bring immediate gains, but in long term, you could lose more than previously you have gained.

Always keep in mind that we will fall and many will fail in their attempts. 

Preparation, market research and our strong desires will be keys to success in any start up that we have throughout our lives.

Remember, don´t jump if you are not prepared!

Mastering a Skill

I have learned the wonderful possibilities of beginning a new business. I learned how to learn in a process of organizing a new business. I can say that in the road of business there are a lot of issues that can try to take away our vision but we have to effort in what we love, having in mind,what is my real passion? 

We should ask us a simple question every day, how many ideas I am going to create per day?  when we create real goals based in our dreams is easier to achieve it.

Among others items, I can define what type of entrepreneur I want to be,having in mind skills, character or luck.

“The perseverance is far more important than skill or talent”  between the skill and the perseverance we need to have a mindset that will never lead us to give up, no matter how tough it gets,because the dedication will be above those. 

Also “A little talent and a lot of hard working are the foundation for learning any skill, and are for more important in the long run”.   If we use this slogan to complete our deep desires I know that we will succeed, we are very accustomed to receive everything in a short time but entrepreneurship is a journey fill of process where if you are not prepare to receive the rewards of the course you´ll lost everything.

As Calvin Coolidge said:

            “Nothing in this world will take the place of persistence. Talent will not, nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not, unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not, the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent…”

Knowing this strategy I want to put effort in the perseverance having a great attitude of change where I can learn new things in every new day, where the dedication will be above other attributes, because entrepreneurs become successful, one small investment at a time, in a never-ending process. Considering that entrepreneurial success is not a destination, it´s a journey. 
A journey taken one determined step by a time, in a way that builds life long treasures.  

Happiness

The opportunity to do what you love does not have a price, I am grateful for the opportunity to have decided to follow my dreams and fulfill them, because by doing this, I feel happy and satisfied.

Francise Ford Coppola says "Do what you love; you'll be better at it."

As entrepreneurs we must always make decisions with which we are happy to meet, but we should not feel obliged to fulfill a goal if is not our goal or dream. 

All of us have a born calling, for example I as a musician since I was a kid, I always had special feelings for music, so my parents took me when I was 9 years old to a music academy, where I can developed my talent, as me everyone has a born calling. If we don´t find this born calling, we can find something where we are good at it, can be an occupation, hobby, work, etc. When you find in what you are good at it, we need to find the way that people will pay you for your gift or talent.

So, we need to believe in ourselves, trust in ourselves and embrace who we are.

One thing that I really liked this week was about how to deal with the fear, because as entrepreneur we have a lot of doubts, but we need to deconstruct our fears, we can do this through a personal plan, where we can create options and strategies that will help us to return to our previous status.

Mark Tavain "I am an old man and have known a great many troubles, but most of them never happened".

This quote let me reflect that we must to have prepare for the troubles, but no with fear, we need to have a backup plan so we can find options in trials days, but not suppose that the fears will be bigger that our success.   

We must always remember that fears thrives on secrecy, the less definite it is, the more deadly its attacks. So, let´s be prepare!

Among the teachings that I learned this week I have received specific instructions in how to start a business.  Top 10 must have to start up are:

 These guidelines are keys to have a previous knowledge of how to create a business, I know that are general ideas but inside them are several point to analyze and discover. One thing that I want to work in, is looking for a good team and equipment, this is the first rung that I want to achieve, because in the art`s field there are a lot of resources but also a big competence that is why now that I am studying in the University of Arts, where my environment is full of artists, I need to find entrepreneurs with the same dreams that I have.

This week I also had the opportunity to create a personal code conduct, where I can see what things I will always do and what others stuffs I will never do, this exercise let me understand what is my role as a business man, and what are the desires of my heart. I know that I have to work in my weakness but also I want to keep practicing my attributes.

I could observe the importance of trust and the role of integrity. I like this phrase “ the cornerstone of character is the integrity”. I will like to have this attribute in my personal life, because in the actual system that we live we are attack for evil and the common attribute that the world don`t have is integrity.

If I want to find my team of work, I need to be a leader and use this wonderful attribute to earn trust of my people. Because a man or a woman that can`t be trusted, can`t really lead. Therefore one of my goals is to read and study Preach My Gospel manual to study the integrity attribute.

I wish to start this venture even with the world`s constraints, I know that is going to be taught but I am delighted to obtain experiences that can aid me to be better.

My Star

My Star! 

Sometimes we have fair to decide what to do or what to follow in life, the big answer for this type of doubt is to do what we really love. 

I know that this phrase is common for everyone, but not very use it in the actuality, if we want to have a successful life we need to use our gifts and talents to bring about the task that we want to perform, that is why we need to "begin with the end in mind" Steven Covey. 

To achieve our stars we need to find our purpose in life, setting lifelong goals, arranging steppingstones to reach those goals and make the course corrections when the reality intervenes.

My star is the Arts, I am studying Musical Arts in the University of the Arts in Guayaquil, Ecuador. That is why one of my first lifelong is to work in a place where I can teach about the Ecuadorian culture, traditions and arts. Then, I am going to start my own Art`s Industry, and in some years I will like to contribute  in my country in the Culture Ministry, therefore if I can get job there I will have the connections to build faster my Art`s Industry.

This week I learned how to distribute my lifelong goals and what things I need to do to accomplish it in few years, I have a quote in mind: 

"The most successful and fulfilled entrepreneurs are always advancing toward a vision that gives meaning to their lives".

 These are my goals and I am going to work in it, since today. 

Individual Freedom

Hi, my name is Janikch Paz, I am creating my entrepreneurial journal, this is my first time that I am organizing my financial goals, but I have a lot of faith that this exercise will be a big blessing in my life. I had the opportunity to read "Your entrepreneurial journal" by Jeff Sandefer. This essay gave me the instructions to understand the big role of a journal,it is a tool that record lessons and also the process of journaling will help us become more reflective and will help us to shape the way that we view our life and the world around us.

I feel brave to believe and act in my goals, as I am an entrepreneurial hero endeavoring "to live a life as an adventure, digging for my special talents and gifts and discovering how to use them in ways that bring me great joy". 

I have learn that the life of an entrepreneurial hero is not easy, it´s more difficult, but I also understood that the greatest struggles bring the great meaning and the most personal growth. I know that there are a lot of people that fear to take decisions or to live independently, but is through this path that we can reach our dreams.

I liked this wonderful phrase by Daniel Burnham. 

"Make no small plans, for they have no power to stir the blood".

My Journal in a
